FilingPing

UK company monitoring tools compared - how to choose

If customers or suppliers owe you money, or you owe them, you want to hear early when something changes at their company. Several kinds of tool can tell you: the free official service, small dedicated monitoring tools, and larger credit-reference providers. They do different jobs, so the right one depends on what you need. We make FilingPing, so we have a commercial interest. We have tried to describe every tool fairly, using only what each provider says on its own website, and to say where others do more than we do.

Details below were read on the providers' own pages on 30 September 2026. Prices and features change, so check the provider's site before you buy.

What to look for

The comparison

Prices are the lowest paid or listed starting price we read on each provider's own site on 30 September 2026. VAT treatment is noted where the page states it. Plans differ in how many companies they cover, so this is a guide to where each starts, not a like-for-like cost.

We also looked for a page on Experian's business site describing company monitoring and pricing and did not find one, so we have not included it.

Notes on each tool

Companies House Follow. Free and official. See our separate guide, Companies House Follow vs FilingPing, for what it does and what we could not confirm.

ComplyTrack. Its emphasis is compliance deadlines: it pulls filing dates from Companies House, ranks clients by penalty risk, sends email reminders before each deadline, tracks director and PSC identity verification, and also covers charity records. It supports adding clients in bulk, and its Professional plan lists risk scoring. If your main worry is your own or your clients' filing deadlines, that focus may suit you better than an alerting tool built around counterparty risk.

Vigil. It states that it sends Gazette dissolution alerts as well as Companies House alerts, which FilingPing does not. It also lists a director watchlist, phoenix company detection and PDF reports on paid plans. Its pricing page shows monthly billing, no free plan, and plans offered through a waitlist when we checked.

Endole and Creditsafe. These are broader data providers. Both describe credit scores and CCJ information among what they offer, Endole also lists credit limits and API access, and Creditsafe describes feeding alerts into your own systems. FilingPing has no credit data, so if credit decisions matter to you, they cover something we do not. We only read their public pages and cannot say how their monitoring compares in speed or depth.

FilingPing. Watches the Companies House register, not The Gazette. Alerts usually arrive within minutes of Companies House publishing a change, though we do not guarantee timing. Spreadsheet upload handles up to 5,000 companies. Plans are Free (5 companies), Starter £29/month (100), Pro £79/month (1,000) and Business £149/month (5,000), all plus VAT; yearly billing is ten times the monthly price. Limitations: FilingPing provides no credit scores, no credit limits, no CCJ data and no financial analysis. It is an alerting tool, not a credit report.

Choose which if...

A short checklist

  1. List the customers and suppliers whose failure would hurt you most.
  2. Decide how many companies that is and who needs to see the alerts.
  3. Decide whether you need credit scores or CCJ data. If so, shortlist a credit-reference provider.
  4. Check whether The Gazette coverage matters to you.
  5. Compare prices per company covered, and confirm whether VAT is included.
  6. Try a free plan or trial first, and check the provider's own page for current prices.
  7. Use our free Company check for a quick look at any company, or start on the free plan.
